Good Nutrition is the Key to Success

Why is nutrition in sports performance so vital?  When an athlete trains or over trains for that matter, they are breaking down and tearing muscle tissue, which needs to be repaired. Constant, repetitive training over time without proper recovery can either result in damage to a muscle or picking up some illness. You always hear of some athlete coming down with some illness at the most inopportune time. Thus the performance level drops because the athlete has no energy to train and it may take him longer to get back to where he was previously.  This can prove costly for an elite athlete when his team needs him most; like during a playoff run.
There is no way around it, without proper sports nutrition, an athlete will spend more time trying to recover from injury then have the ability to pick it up in stride for the next training period.  Have you ever worked out so hard that it resulted in vomiting or fainting? It can happen especially when you are out of shape and you try pushing your workouts to the limit. However, if we neglect to replenish our body with proper sports nutrition not only will performance decline but your health will be hindered dramatically.
So be balanced, include both exercise and nutrition together as they are very important components needed to increase performance. By implementing this strategy you will be amazed at the advancement you will make.
